Good evening, everyone!
Today, I completed my 2nd week of my new exercise program. On the 7th day of every week, I am given the option to either rest or do the Stretch video. Our day wrapped up really late tonight, and because of a little visitor I received today, I'm just not feeling up to doing my stretches tonight. If it had been a mandatory workout, I would be all over it, but, call me a woose if you will, I am opting for the "rest" tonight.
I did not get my crab legs as I had hoped to last night, thanks to the weather. We braved the roads and went to visit my mom in Lewisburg. They really missed the kids and we were all going stir crazy. So, our wonderful date night turned into dinner in Looserburg, walking around Walmart, and spending the night with my mommy. We had a good time playing Beetles Rock Band all night and just visiting. Anyway, I am beat, so I am going to bed. Hopefully tomorrow's blog will be more interesting. My weekly weigh-in is tomorrow, so be sure to check in on my progress. I am excited to see myself.
76 more days!

Day 13
I am writing my blog a little earlier today. Ceth and I have a babysitter for the night and actually get to go out on a much needed date! YEAH!!!
Today was Kenpo X. I LOVE this workout. It is kind of martial arts, so to speak. It's a lot of kicking, blocks, jabs, etc. It's a lot of fun, but it's a lot of work. This is the sweatiest workout EVER! I LOVE IT!!!!
I can't log my food intake today, other than breakfast and lunch. I will not be able to get back to my computer until tomorrow. However, I can tell you that I full intend on eating some Dungenous Crab legs from Joe's tonight. :o) I deserve a little bit of a treat, right?
Breakfast- Bowl of cereal 1/2 cup of skim milk
Snack- Banana
Lunch- Turkey sandwhich on wheat, 1 slice of low fat cheese, blueberry yogurt
No afternoon snack....saving calories for dinner tonight! haha

Day 12
Good evening, everyone!
I'm finishing my workout a little late tonight. I let the kids stay up a little later tonight, in hopes that they will sleep in a little bit in the morning. :o)
Tonight's workout was Legs and Back. This time around, I was able to do ALL of the leg workouts, for the set amount of time. I even added some weights this time around to add a little more resistance an dintensity. YEAH, ME! Now, as far as the pull-ups go, I am still struggling. i still have to use a chair for assistance, but this time, I was able to push it back a little further and rely on my arms a lot more. I know I will be able to push out 10 at a time before long. haha
It was also Ab Ripper X night. This went better than ever. I guess that pain I'd been feeling in the left side of my pelvis must have just been a tight muscle. Whatever it was, Yoga took care of it last night. I hung with every exercise they did, even got a few reps in of some exercises that I'd not been able to do until tonight. My abdominals are DEFINITELY getting stronger.
GREAT WORKOUT TONIGHT!!!!
Food intake:
Breakfast- Special K cereal and a banana
Snack- 100 calorie pack of popcorn
Lunch- other half of mu turkey sub from last night
Snack- The juciest, most amazing orange I've ever had
Dinner- 1 baked porkchop (no breading), green beans, and 1 serving of rice.
Drinks: TONS of water, total of 1 1/2 cups of skim milk for the day, Oh, and I did cave and have 1 VERY small glass of diet coke. :o)

Day 11
Today was Yoga day. THANK THE LORD!!!! The stretching really did my body good tonight. These last few days at school have been doozies. I love my babies, but they have been CRAZY wild this week. Even the ones that I never have to worry about have just been messes this week. I think it's something in the air. I've certainly been on edge myself. Not to mention that I saw a mouse in my classroom last week, that we have yet to be able to locate since. Until today, that is. I will spare the details and just leave it at he bacame a strange smell coming out of one of the heaters in the classroom. YUCK!!!! Anyhoo, enough of that. My point is.....I was very thankful for my hour and a half tonight of just stretching, balancing, and relaxing. It really did help me to just clear my mind and focus on ......Nothing....which was a beautiful thing.
Legs and Back come tomorrow...another killer. Pray for me. I've got my first meeting with my second professor for the semester tomorrow after school. After meeting the first one last weekend, I just can't wait to see what this one has in store for us. Let's see just how many papers I can write in two months' time. As of now, with the one class, I have 10 article summaries, an interview, 2 power point presentations, and an 8 page term paper. Ughhhhh! Ok...gonna stop now. I'm getting myself all worked up again. All I can say is...LET IT SNOW!!!!
Food intake:
(I did much better today, I think. I added some fruits and such to bring in some more variety in my food groups and to up my calorie intake.)
Breakfast- Special K cereal
Snack- banana
Lunch- can of Progresso light Chicken and Dumpling soup (180 calories)
Snack- Mixed Berry light yogurt and a bottle of cranberry juice
Dinner- 6 inch Subway turkey and black forest ham sub. YUMMY!!!!!
If my calculations are correct, I took in approximately 1,100 calories today...which is more where I think I should be. Much better than 800, right?
79 days to go!! Out of the eighties! Yeah!!!

Day 10
You guys getting tired of reading these yet? If so, I'm gonna keep doing it anyway! :o) It's really helping me to stay in check by making this blog a part of my committment.
I felt completely drained when I got up this morning, so I have made an executive decision. I am going to try and fit a few more calories into my diet each day. My mom suggested trying to squeeze in more fruits, or even an extra carb or starch. These will all be good energy sources and will bring my daily calorie intake up a little bit.
Today's workout was Shoulders and Arms. I upped my weights a little bit, so I definitely feel like I got more out of this particular workout this time around. GOOD STUFF!!! Also, it's every other day, so I had to throw the Ab Ripper X in after the Shoulder and Arms workout. I did MUCH better this time. I love that I am improving with each go around. I can really feel myself getting stronger. "I hate it....but I love it!" However, I have recently noticed a very sharp stabbing pain in my lower, left side of my pelvis.....only when I am in certain positions....For example, when in the push-up position on Monday, it was KILLER! I am not sure what it is, and it seems to be getting better, but if anyone has any ideas of what it might be, please share. I am definitely looking forward to Yoga tomorrow. Maybe it's just a tight muscle that needs to be loosened. If so, Yoga will definitely do the trick.
Food intake:
Breakfast- turkey bacon on toast, 1/2 cup of 2% milk
Lunch- 1 can of Progresso light Pot Roast soup
Snack- 1 package of animal crackers
Dinner- 1 salmon patty, salad, and a small portion of roasted chicken. (I was kinda scrounging the leftovers.) haha
10 days down, 80 to go!!!

Day 9
I'm gona have to keep this short tonight. CRAZY day at school...even crazier day at home. However, thanks to some amazing friends, we now have our indoor plumbing back. lol
I was back on Plyometrics tonight...jump training. Whew!! As Tony Horton says...it is definitely the mother of all X workouts. I tell you what...nonstop for 54 minutes. VERY intense cardio and leg workout. I'm gonna have some banging legs by the end of the 90 days. :o)
Food intake:
I couted up my calories the last few days, and I actually don't think I am eating a healthy amount. (Not enough) So, I'm going to have to think of good ways to improve that this week. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Breakfast- Special K vanilla almond cereal
Lunch- Progresso Light Vegetable soup
Snack- 100 calorie pack buttered popcorn
Dinner- 1 Salmon patty, a GORGEOUS salad, and a little bit of roasted chicken. I was REALLY hungry this evening, and I had the calories to spare, so I did splurge a little. I will admit it.

Day 8
Day 8 folks! I actually made it through my first week. Now, as far as the workouts go, I will be following the same sequence of videos for the next 2 weeks. After that, the calendar changes a bit.
I just took my second swing at the Chest and Back workout. I'm now able to do more push-ups than ever before. It's really encouraging to know that each time I do these workouts, I do a little better....even if it is only by 1 or 2 more push-ups. Anyhoo....still practicing the pull-ups/ chin-ups. that's gonna take a while I'm afraid. Using a chair to assist for now, but I know, before it's all said and done, I will meet that goal as well. :o)
Well, it's been really hard to not weigh myself throughout this week, but I am going to try and only do it every Monday morning. This is humiliating to post my weight at this point, but I want to really be able to see my changes over time, so here we go. My starting weight, last Monday morning, January 18th, was 167 lbs. This morning, when I weighed, I was down to 160.5! YEAH!!! 6 1/2 pounds this week! Considering the fact that I know I've put on a little muscle this week, I'd say that's not so bad for the first week. The people on the video said that after the first month is when you really start to see some results. I can't wait!!! Anyway....good day! No crying at the scale!
Food intake:
Breakfast- a fat free 100 calorie lemon cream pie yogurt, 1 cup 1% milk (I LOVE milk!)
Snack- Special K 90 calorie snack bar
Lunch- Turkey sanwich on whole wheat, 1 slice of cheese, and another yogurt
Snack- 100 calorie pack, snack mix
Dinner- 1 can of Progresso Light chicken noodle soup, 140 calories
(By the way......I turned down a beautiful piece of pumpkin bread with an icing drizzle on it that was homemade by one of the other teacher's at school. It was hard, but I stuck to my guns! Man, it really smelled great! lol)
LOTS of water

Day 7
Well, today's workout was a treat. I had a choice of either taking a rest or doing the video called XStretch. Since I don't want to get out of the habit, I went for the video. It was nice. It had a lot of the same moves as the Yoga video. It was still a workout, and it is intended to, over time, make you more limber and flexible. Some of the moves were a little uncomfortable, but it's pretty amazing how by the end of the video even, your muscles are so relaxed and stretched out that your body is able to do things that it's never been able to before.
I will be weighing myself in for the first time tomorrow and will HOPEFULLY be posting a decent weight loss. I am trying not to get my hopes up, but surely it's something. This is the best I've treated my body in a long time....food AND exercise wise. Looking forward to updating everyone tomorrow. Don't forget to come back tomorrow and check in on my progress. Headed for my Sunday night TV now. Everyone have a great night.
Food intake:
Breakfast- 1/2 whole wheat bagel w/ fat free cream cheese, 2 slices of turkey bacon
Lunch- Grilled chicken wrap w/ lettuce and fat free ranch dressing
Dinner- 1/2 boneless/ skinless chicken breast, 1/3 cup of rice, and steamed broccoli and carrots
83 days to go!!!

Day 6
Hello again!
Today was day 6 of my long journey, and i have to say that I LOVED my workout today!!! We did Kempo X, which is a type of karate / kickboxing type thingy. I am sweating insanely, but I this was my favorite workout so far, by a long shot! It was fast, busy, rhythmic, and before I knew it, the entire hour was done. This was a major cardio workout that left me just feeling awesome. I really feel myself getting in shape already, and it's only the first week. I can't wait to see how I look/ feel in another week or two.
Monday morning will be my official weigh-in. I'm a little nervous about seeing if there's any change, because I know that I've gained some muscle, and I know that muscle weighs more than fat. However, I still hope to see a few lower numbers on my scale. I will be sure to blog my results.
By the way, I do finally have my "Before" picture. I am simply trying to gather the courage to post it. I really do want to share my progress over time, so I will do....just not tonight. haha
For those of you who read my last blog, I FINALLY figured out where all of this water has been hiding in my yard from the leak. Aparently, it has found the trench that holds the sewer line and, since it runs right beside the main water line to the house, the water has decided to follow down that trench and go wherever that goes. Anyhoo, one of the wonderful, beautiful, amazing women that I teach with has an experienced husband in that department. They have offered to help us out this coming week, saving us a lot of money. Holly....Thanks so much!!! Anyway, my point in telling this is that I feel a little bit of peace...not near the stress that I felt yesterday. Thank the Lord!
Food intake:
Breakfast- 2 scrambled egg whites and 3 slices of turkey bacon
Lunch- Turkey sandwich on whole wheat w/ 1 slice of cheese and mustard
Dinner- I saved up some calories during the day by eliminating inbetween meal snacks, so I indulged in 1 serving of whole wheat pasta and 1/2 cup of Ragu sauce ...I thought I was going toregret this choice, but it actually added up to 350 calories anyway! Yeah!
Tomorrow, I think I'm going to have to switch up lunch. I don't want to get sick of turkey sandwiches. :o)

Day 5
Hello again!
Today was day #5. I've made it almost through my first week, with no faulter. Today's workout was Back and Legs. I tell you what....If I finish this with nothing els, I am definitely going to have some killer muscular legs. haha Anyhoo, along with that workout, it was time, yet again, for the Ab Ripper X. TORTURE!!! Each time I do it, I do a lot better than the last, but I am anxiously awaiting being able to completely keep up with them with as many reps as they do. That will be the last of the Ab Ripper that I will see until Monday. I am even more exhausted today than on normal days. Yesterday we were told by the meter man that we have a water leak somewhere, so I, being the cheep skate that I am, have spent about an hour over the last 24 hours getting down and personal with our crawl space. I wanted to know, at least, that my house's undercarriage wasn't flooding. Military crawling the square footage of a hard and rocky crawl space is quite a workout in itself. Anyway, we finally, with the help of a retired plumber neighbor, decided that it must be the main line from the meter to the house. Now, I'm left with 1 perplexing question....Where in the world has the 50,000 gallons of water that has leaked gone to??!!! There is absolutely no sign of the water anywhere, but the meter is just a spinnin'. I had to swallow my pride and call a plumber. They have spray painted my yard and my flower bed and have plans to dig up and replace the whole pipe. Yeah....$600!!!! Go figure. Luckily, the electric company is "supposed" to adjust our bill. We will jump that hurdle when we get there. On top of all of the water drama, I started my grad classes for the semester again tonight. I now have 2 months to find and read 10 articles on a certain subject, write a 2 page paper on each of them, do an interview with another teacher, create a presentation on that, Write an 8 page research paper on that topic, and again create a presentation on that. Hmmmm. I wonder if I can pay an expert $600 to add some more time to each day. Needless to say, I am feeling a little bit wiped out today, very soor, and ready for bed. However, I stuck to my program. Didn't get done until 10:30, lost some precious sleep time, but sacrifice is what it's all about, right? I WILL not get discouraged. I have some pretty big goals set, but I know that with God and the support of my wonderful hubby, I will reach each one. Ok....I will stop whining now and go nurse my bruised and scraped knees that my new friend, crawlspace gave me.
Food intake:
Breakfast- I was bad....skipped breakfast from feeling stressed and rushed. I know I should NEVER do that!
Lunch- Turkey sandwhich with mustard and a slice of cheese, 1 fat free yogurt
Dinner- An ENTIRE can of spaghettios, because I was STARVING. Luckily, the entire can was only 350 calories.
No sodas again today.....just TONS of water. Yes, I have earned frequent flyer miles from the bathroom over the last couple days. :o)
See you tomorrow!

Day 4
Hello again! I can't believe I've actually come back to blog every day so far. I mean, that is my intention, but I am also known as the Queen of Procrastination. Anyhoo, just finished my workout for the night. I had to do Yoga X. Now, first of all, anyone who thinks that Yoga is just a bunch of silly stretching is waaaaay wrong. Isweat just as much during this workout as I have the others. It was an hour and a half long, and let me tell you, I LOVE me some yoga! By half way through the workout, I truly was more flexible. now, I will have to keep doing this regularly to maintain and improve that flexibility and balance, but we all know that I am going to continue regularly, right?
Great day today! I made it through another day of work without any caffine. I did feel a little sluggish, but overall, good. I think as I continue my program, my energy will increase. Now I just need to work on my number of hours of sleep. I don't get nearly enough. Anyhoo, not much amazing stuff to talk about today, other than the fact that I have made it another day! :o)
Food intake:
Breakfast- 3/4 cup of vanilla almond special k cereal w/ 1/2 cup 2% milk
Snack- Special K 90 calorie snack bar
Lunch- Turkey sandwich on wheat bread w/ no crust, mustard, and 1 slice of cheese, 1 Nonfat yogurt
Snack- 100 calorie snack mix pack
Dinner- 1 grilled Tillapia fillet with steamed mix vegetables. YUMMY!!!!
Come back tomorrow!!! 86 days to go!

Day 3
Ok. So today was day # 3. I actually felt much better this morning than I thought I would. My legs were still sore, just in different spots. Today I had the luxury of working out my arms and shoulders. I came to one conclusion...I NEED HEAVIER WEIGHTS! I am so proud to say that. I just want to make sure that if I go through this whole program, I actually do my very, VERY best. I want to put my all into this, just to see what I'm really made of. Anyhoo, today almost seemed like a treat compared to the jumping and kicking for over an hour straight that I had to do yesterday. That was until I looked at my workout calendar and reminded myself that it was Ab Ripper X day again.....every other day in addition to your daily workout. MAN OH MAN!!! I've got to say...for a 16 minute workout, the Ab Ripper is quite a beast. However, it will definitely take a beast to rip my abs. haha. However, I did notice that, even though I didn't get as many reps in as the pros on the video did, I was able to do more than I was the first night. Am I already getting stronger? Ah...too soon to tell. I will be checking my weight at the end of each week, which will be Monday mornings. I am going to keep track of any weight loss and change in my measurements. I don't want to do it any more often than every week, caus eI don't want to get discouraged over teensy amounts of progress. Right now, I need to focus on how I feel....and I feel GREAT!!!
Not that anyone cares, but I am trying to keep a daily note of my food intake.
Today:
Breakfast- 3/4 cup of vanilla almond Special K cereal with 1/2 cup 2% milk. YUMMY!!!
Snack- 90 calorie snack bar by Special K
Lunch- 1 salmon fillet, 1/2 cup parmesean pasta....no butter, 1 fat free 100 calorie yogurt cup
Snack- 1 mini bag popcorn (100 calorie)
Dinner- (I decided to have breakfast for dinner) 2 scrambled egg whites and 3 35calorie slices of turkey bacon.
NO SODAS TODAY!!!! I just drank a ton of water...and guess what? I didn't even get my anticipated caffine withdrawl headache!

Day 2
This morning, I woke up, and I could hardly move! My poor kindergarteners were worried about me all day, because every time I tried to sit down, I made A LOT of noise. haha You should have seen my trying to bend down and tie shoes! The workout yesterday was for chest and back, with the additional ab workout. However, I feel it in every inch of my body! I guess I know now, just how out of shape I've really been. For some reason, I was looking forward to tonight's workout all day today. I kept thinking to myself that if I work through the pain, my muscles will loosen up and stretch back out. It worked!
Today's video was called Polyometrics. It is a cardio workout, based on kicking and jumping. Tony Horton calls it the "Mother of all X Workouts." Needless to say, I was pretty nervous about it. I don't think I've ever sweat so much in my life! Every muscle in my legs were getting worked to the limit. I did have to modify a couple of the moves, but I didn't stop! There were several points throughout the workout that I didn't think I could keep going. However, he breaks each exercise up into 30 second slots....goes through 4 back-to-back exercises, then repeats the series. There were, I think, 5 blocks of 4 different exercises. Well, I kept pushing and pushing myself and I made it until the very end!
As far as food today, I did really good as well. I had a Special K bar for breakfast, chicken breast, 1 cup of brown rice, and some broccoli and carrots for lunch, and for dinner, I had a salmon fillet with a beautiful salad. Most importantly....only 1 diet coke today! For anyone who knows me, this is a huge thing. I am really trying to kick my coke addiction...lol. I drank water, water, WATER!
How am I feeling? I feel flipping fantasctic! I can not express how amazing I feel after completing tonight's workout, and not having quit even once. I feel really motivated and extremely proud of myself. My husband is so supportive. Hopefully with all of this, our whole family will benefit. We will become more healthy, by eating better, and by making sure that we take part in physical activity every day. I am more motivated now than ever, but I know, at times, it will be difficult, so please remember to leave comments of encouragement. They are greatly appreciated. Until tomorrow......God bless, and have a great night!

Day 1
So, today was my very first day of the 90 day program. I knew ahead of time that I was going to need some resistance bands and a doorway pull-up bar. I knew from the start that this was bad news becuase I've never....not even in my best physical condition, been able to do even 1 pull-up. However, I pushed aside my fear, knowing that the program does not expect you to be able to do everything that they do in the first week. They say that the key is to simply stick to it, don't give up, do absolutely as much as you can, and be sure to push play on the dvd player every day. Tony Horton is the guy that created this system. He's quite entertaining to work out with. He's very passionate about it, and he's very encouraging. His enthusiasm is a bit annoying at times, but he's good.
The first part of the workout was a 60 minute chest and back workout. Now I am not looking to get ripped and become some kind of body builder, but I definitely want to firm up....everywhere. I mean, I have had 2 children, and as I said before, I've let myself go. During this workout, there were SEVERAL kinds of push-ups, pull-ups, and free weight work that focused on back and chest muscles. The folks on the video helped with ways to modify/ simplify some of the moves, until we get more used to and better able to do it. For example, you were allowed/ encouraged to steady yourself on a chair to assist diring the pull-ups. I did all right with some of the push-ups, but I have a long way to go. I was able to do between 5 and 10 of each kind, and that was it. They said to state a goal of how many of each set you were going to do, and then do everything in your power to meet that goal. If you can surpass it, go for it.
The second part of the workout, which I will have to do every other day, is called Ab Ripper X. WOW! It is only 16 minutes long, but it's 16 minutes of complete torture. During the workout, Tony Horton said...."I hate ab ripper! I hate it, but I love it!." lol I thought this was hilarious. I was not able to keep up with all of the ab exercises that they did....extremely quick and very advanced, but I did as he said...if you need a break, take one. Just don't stop moving. It will get easier, but continue to push me. At this point, I can't imagine it ever getting easier, but it is way to soon to tell or to try and doubt the program.
So, how am I feeling? LIKE RUBBER!!! I am sure that when I wake up in the morning, I will not be able to move, but I WILL NOT GIVE UP. Tomorrow, I have to focus on different muscles and work out along with another dvd. I'm too tired to check and see what it's called right now, but I will let you know tomorrow. I will keep you posted! :o) I feel like Tony Horton. "I hate it, but I love it!" I hate it because I am sore and tired, but I already love the feeling that I have from putting myself on the right road. I already feel like I'm doing something.
My BEFORE pictures are coming soon. I will post my pic once a week so that we can all see the changes. this will be extremely humiliating for me, but I think it will also help me. Yeah me! 89 days to go! :o)

Introduction to.....Me!
Before officially starting this blog, you have to get to know me a little before even beginning to understand my upcoming journey or the reasons behind it. First off, I am approaching 30. I am a kindergarten teacher, but first and foremost a wife and mother. My husband and I have been married for going on 8 years. My two sons, Noah and Jonas, will be 6 and 2 this spring. My husband and I were friends in high school, but didn't start dating until immediately after I had graduated. I know for a fact that I couldn't possibly be more in love with anyone than I am with him. He is truly my soulmate. My family is MY WORLD!!!!! with my job taking a close second place. This all sounds lovely and grand until, one day, I had completely forgotten who I was before I became "Woman," "Mommy," and "Mrs. Erin." Who am I? Now, please don't get me wrong. I LOVE my life, and I wouldn't change it for the world. However, there are some aspects of it that I have simply decided to enhance. Number 1 being to treat myself the way I should be treated. I have not been doing this. I haven't been taking care of myself. I've let my looks go. I'm no longer the fit athlete that I used to be. Also, because of this, I always feel tired and drained of energy. I remember a famous and horribly annoying quote, that is very unfortunately relevant to my current self. "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired." Now, a very important part of my character is the part that is described as stubborn and competitive. I know that it is only because of these qualities that I WILL succeed in my plan to become fit and healthy.
I have read a lot about P90X, and it is an extremely difficult, intense workout program that guarantees results if you stick to it. This will, if all goes as planned, become a part of my lifestyle, and not just something I am trying out for a while. I know that I can stick to anything for 90 days, but making permanent changes in my life, as far as exercise and the food choices I make, is the part that is really going to challenge me.
So, here's the thing. I am going to blog about my initial 90 days in the P90X program. I will document my food intake, the exercises and times that were required for the day, and most importantly, how I am feeling along the way. I have reached a point in my life where I realize that until I am happy with myself, I will never be the best mother, wife, teacher, or person in general that I can and want to be. Here's what I need from anyone who actually reads this blog. ENCOURAGEMENT!!! I do not give up or give in easily...just ask my husband. However, as in any workout/ diet program, you don't see results right away. I never, at any point in this journey, want to feel discouraged or like I am just wasting my time. My time is precious, and I don't have a lot of it to spare, and this program is going to take up approximately 90 minutes of every day for the next 3 months. Any words of encouragement or positive comments are definitely welcomed and appreciated.
Come back soon and check up on my progress. My plan is to blog DAILY about my experiences. I think that writing this all down and sharing my feelings about all of this is going to benefit me and keep me motivated. I hope, when all is said and done, that I've motivated someone else in someway.
